FMH attorney Brian Harris was quoted in an article by Erin Schilling in Bloomberg Tax on the proposed breakup of the U.S. Department of Justice’s Tax Division.
While the Tax Division has historically be a separate division within the DOJ, the current administration has proposed to consolidate it within the DOJ’s criminal and civil divisions.
“Keeping a unit with a dedicated tax staff within the civil and criminal divisions could limit any negative impacts of the reorganization by retaining institutional knowledge and ensuring attorneys who specialize in tax are on tax cases, said Brian Harris, an attorney at Fogarty Mueller Harris PLLC.”
Brian previously served as Trial Attorney with the Tax Division from 2005-11 where he litigated taxes in federal district and bankruptcy courts.
