FMH is pleased to announce the successful defense of our client Aleksandr “Alex” Dedovets, who was acquitted following a jury trial in the Middle District of Florida. He faced federal criminal charges of conspiracy to defraud the IRS, filing false tax returns, and aiding and assisting in the preparation of false tax returns following a nearly seven-year investigation by IRS Criminal Investigations.
On December 6, 2024, a federal jury in Tampa delivered its verdict in under two hours finding Mr. Dedovets not guilty on all five criminal tax counts in the case following a weeklong trial. On January 24, 2025, the presiding U.S. District Court judge dismissed with prejudice an additional pending count, upon motion of the government, and closed the case.
“We are thrilled that after having his day in court, a jury of his peers rejected the IRS position that our client committed tax crimes,” announced lead defense attorney Matt Mueller.
